This time it's not about winning, it's about an utter disregard for the rules of the road and total domination. This time it's personal. And this time it's on Xbox 360.
The next-generation debut of 2005's racing game of the year, BurnoutTM Revenge slams into the Xbox 360 with a suite of new online features set to define next-generation automotive anarchy, jaw-dropping high-definition graphics and the retina-searing speed that the Burnout series is famous for.
Through Xbox LiveTM, the brand new Live Revenge feature tracks your rivals and calls out those that need some serious payback. Build up relationships with gamers that you take out, or take you down, and then let Live Revenge recall them and tell you how they are intensifying. It's about long memories and short tempers.
Have you just been part of the most destructive crash in video game history and everyone missed it? The all new Save and Share feature enables you to highlight those "oh my gosh" moments from your replays so you can share them via Xbox LiveTM. Download your friend's replays and rate them, or check out the Top 20 Most Downloaded.
The Xbox 360 enables Burnout Revenge to deliver the most spectacular crashes in the series' history. Next generation crashes mean vehicle deformation, highlighted with localized scratch, crumple and scorch maps, Hollywood-inspired special effects and bigger explosions than ever before. I'd like to start out that I do not have Xbox Live for my 360, so this is from a offline point of view.
Well, what can I say? I've played every version of Burnout Revenge from the PS2, Xbox and now the 360. I have to say, WOW!
The initial difference, of course, is graphically. It looks absolutely stunning! In HD, it is unbelievable! The draw distance is amazing, even at the speeds at which you whip round the track.
The play modes and tracks are exactly the same as the PS2 and Xbox versions, but play brilliantly. They are all fantastic fun to play, and you want to revisit them over and over again.
The Burning Lap trials start to make your eyes bleed, because of the sheer speed. This is what Burnout is all about, speed.
The only drawback I have of this game is the "new and improved" (apparently) Crash Junctions. It is no longer the precision mission it was on Burnout 3. Instead you have to hit the meter at just the right points to get the most speed, then from here you guide your car towards the junction. When you reach it, it's all about pot luck, and if you get the desired amount of damage, you win. Not as fun as it used to be.

First off, this game has some of the sweetest graphics i have ever seen and on an hd tv it will make your eyes pop from your skull.
Well i better compare it to its predissesor shouldn't i. Alll the Burnout games since number 1 have had improvments and each game has just got better and better, from improved use of boost to being able to take down your opponents. Well Burnout Revenge (as you can guess from it's name) is more focused on getting revenge on your rivals. simple as.
For the first time ever you can check traffic, which means you can bash into the back of traffic going in the same direction as you and use it as a sort of missile to take out your rivls, also if a rival takes you out you can get a very good feeling of revenge if you get them back.
Unlike Burnout 3, the groups are not split up into car types (coupe, super etc) but how dangerous you are (Reckless, Harmless etc) which is fun. to progress though you collect stars and on each race, road rage etc there are 5 to collect depending on how well you drive and what place yu come.
The usual modes are in the world tour like race (obviously racing) road rage (take out as many rivals as you can) eliminator (every 30 sec the racer in last place gets kicked out of the race) crash (cause as much damage as possible in a single crash) burning lap (like a time trial) and the grand prix (series of races) with gold medals to collect in each.

I played burnout 3 on the old xbox to death and although i didn't buy burnout 4 on the old xbox i did try it at a friends and it seemed OK. I never played it online.
Now i have my new xbox 360 and burnout revenge is released for it. Do i buy it just for the online play (since i like playing with others over xbox live)? After quite a bit of thought i bought it and am i glad i did!!
The online part of this game is AMAZING with very little (if any at all) lag. The graphics are a step up from the old xbox although not outstanding. I particularly like the way that onscreen you can see how far ahead (or behind) the other players are. When one is catching you up you have a great urge to put your foot down.
I had heard about the new online revenge element before buying and thought it would be quite lame but actually it's very good. When you take out another player (or are taken out) this is remembered by xbox live and so either later that same game or at anypoint in the future, the game will remind you that you took that player out before (or will remind you to get revenge if YOU were taken out). It's a very nice touch and i did find myself trying to get revenge on other players while partially ignoring others.
Offline the single player seems to be pretty much as it was on the old xbox except for the nicer graphics. If you bought this on the old one and played it to death offline you probably won't want to spend your cash on this. However if you play on xbox live and want a great game which is good looking, exciting and lots of fun i'd recommend this to you.
UPDATE.... Amazon now allows reviewers to update reviews and i thought i would update this as i have now played it for 40+ hours and completed the single player game (getting about 700 gamerpoints at the same time)
The single player game was REALLY good and had an excellent difficulty curve. Some of the burning laps on the dominator level were really hard but i get a great deal of pleasure when i beat them.
I now play online via XBox live and the game is as good as ever.
I recommended this before and i still do - one of the best 360 games to date.
